The Orbit Reader Refreshable Braille Displays

This is a portable 20 or 40 cells, refreshable braille displays and stand-alone reader with and includes a line of 20 or 40 braille cells with pins that arrange and convert digital text into braille for tactile reading by individuals with visual impairments. Can cost as much as KES. 65,000.

inABLE

inABLE is an organisation dedicated to empowering youth who are visually impaired and disabled through assistive technology. Through the use of braille for reading and computer assistive technology for voice-to-text capabilities, inABLE helps these individuals overcome barriers and gain access to education and employment opportunities. The organisation has also pioneered the Assistive Technologies Labs in partnership with schools for the blind in Kenya which are equipped with specialised computer programs designed to benefit visually impaired students.

NVDA

NVDA is a downloadable software for computers that allows people who are blind or visually impaired to have more access and greater functionality with their computers.
