This resource features two videos from professionals who support Sense International Uganda and actively use the Global Resource Hub to support persons with deafblindness in their work. Ngobi, a Special Needs Teacher, and Lydia, a Technical Expert on deafblindness, share their experiences and highlight the importance of the Hub in transforming the lives of persons with deafblindness.

Through their insights, they demonstrate how access to practical information, learning materials, and professional guidance strengthens inclusive practice and improves outcomes for the individuals they support.

Transcript of Lydia's video

Lydia is standing outside and is wearing a pink blouse. She is facing the camera as she speaks :

My name is Namakikka Lydia, the technical expert for persons with deafblindness at Sense international Uganda. I came to know about the Hub, sometime back, I attended the launch in Kampala.

It is very good in that; it is that teacher where there is no teacher. It helps us get access information, for example, when I go through that field, if they are going to support their teachers, I’ve gone to support their parents. I keep referring to it, telling parents how they can use the Hub and the data/information. From there, they can learn, support their children, with support of the Hub. I keep using the videos, referring them to those videos. There is a lot of information on who a person with deafblindness is, the type, and facts.

A lot of information on advocacy issues, a lot of information on different Acts, for example, the Disability Act. So, I keep referring them to the hub. It’s really a very good source of information for working with persons who have complex disabilities.

Yeah, I’d like to thank Sense International for designing and for making sure that this hub reaches us. I reach out to parents and everyone that can use the Hub.

I keep talking to all the service providers that we meet, we keep encouraging them to use the Hub because it gives information. Information on how to support persons with deafblindness.

Transcript of Ngobi's video

Ngobi is standing outside and is wearing a dark blue shirt with patterns. He is facing the camera as he speaks :

My name is Ngobi Zaidi. I’m an SNE teacher, coordinating the activities of Sense International Uganda, in Namutumba District.

I want, thank you very much. Thank you, Sense International Uganda, for supporting us and introducing the Resource Hub. It has so much helped us, you know, during the time we missed our children with deafblindness. It’s just a matter of going onto the Hub check, get what you want about deafblindness, and then you support the children.

It has really done us very well, and we encourage that it really continues to support us. I think it is the best among all that you have introduced in the system.
