Knitting skills prepare the individual to engage in income-generating activities and the world of work. The learner will therefore, acquire skills in handling materials, knitting and finishing items for sell. 

Interventions

  • Providing the learner with knitting materials and equipment
  • Guiding the learner in safe handling of knitting materials and equipment
  • Demonstrating to the learner how to knit items
  • Prompting the learner to finish knitted items
  • Supporting the learner in storing and selling the knitted items

  • Reinforcing the learner’s positive behaviours
  • Recording learner’s progress and achievement

The Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Sports (MoEST&S) through the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) recognise the fact that learners who are deafblind and not in school require a specialised curriculum and support materials.
Kyambogo University, a public institution in Uganda, boasts an inclusive education system that prioritizes the well-being and development of learners with deafblindness.
