Poultry keeping prepares learners to engage in income-generating activities. The learner will be equipped with poultry keeping skills such as measuring feeds, watering, maintaining cleanliness, collecting eggs, selling, keeping records, etc. in order to prepare him/her earn a living and live an independent life.

Interventions

  •  Providing materials and tools to the learner 
  • Guiding the learner in identifying poultry 
  • Supporting the learner to orient self to the poultry area
  • Guiding the learner to carry out poultry keeping activities
  • Demonstrating various poultry keeping activities
  • Guiding the learner to clean the poultry house 
  • Supporting the learner to collect, store and sell poultry products
  • Guiding the learner in keeping poultry records
  • Reinforcing learner’s positive behaviour 
  • Recording achievements and progress
  • Contacting veterinary doctors

Achievement Indicators

The learner can:

  • participate in poultry keeping activities such as feeding birds, cleaning poultry area, collecting eggs, etc.
  • improve income levels.

Kyambogo University, a public institution in Uganda, boasts an inclusive education system that prioritizes the well-being and development of learners with deafblindness.
